SUPERVISIONS
Supervisions
What is supervision?
A meeting of people with similar professional interests, where professional issues and concerns are reviewed together. There are several forms of supervision. Jaana Saar offers her unique approach based on 12 years of personal experience and knowledge. The goal is to create an opportunity, whether privately, among colleagues, or in a 1:1 meeting, to receive professional support and guidance.
My thought
„It takes great courage to ask for help and accept support. Being a role model for those we offer help to is therapeutic in itself.“
Why are supervisions beneficial?
The courage to embark on a healing journey is always greater than the courage to flee, deny your guilt, or blame another. If not, you are likely to continue the same pattern in future relationships. It will not end until you understand your part in the relationship and take responsibility for it. A psychogenealogy session can also be used to explore your family tree, if you already have one, to see what influences might be related to you. This helps to map out topics that need to be addressed.
Taboos related to supervision
Supporting oneself as a helper is not very fashionable. When investigating the reasons, the response is something like: 'If I need support, what kind of therapist am I?!' Or it is believed that it won't help anyway or there is shame in revealing one's human side in front of colleagues. Often, one is identified with the profession, making it difficult to see, let alone meet, one's own needs. Even in society, there are critical beliefs about what a professional therapist or helper should be like. These are illusions because, first and foremost, we are human. Personal material is always present and is reflected in how we do our work.
SESSIONS
Support Group for Therapists
Support group for therapists
Published in the Events Calendar and held regularly. The support group for therapists is intended for all students and active therapists. If they need a safe environment to privately explore the background of personal or clients’ recurring, obstructive issues. It doesn’t matter which field of therapy you are in or what practices you primarily use. Or if you are otherwise involved in supporting others physically, mentally, or emotionally, you have the right to receive support. This is practical self-care for therapists and getting support from colleagues, promoting higher quality service and reducing burnout.
What topics to attend with?
Each participant can address an issue that is important to them. For example, feeling stuck in therapy and not knowing how to progress with a client. Or lacking ideas and courage to use other approaches. Another issue could be that sessions are constantly canceled, supervisors are adding more tasks, or there is a hindrance in developing one’s activities and services. In short—anything that interferes or disturbs and prevents continuing or developing therapeutic work with heart.
What do we do?
We explore what might be the causes. What do these situations reflect or indicate? Is it a personal blind spot or a lack of essential knowledge? What are those personal blind spots that emerge and drain the energy needed to invest 100% in your work? What needs to be resolved before you can be fully present for your clients again? All participants receive attention, even if they come just to support others. Primarily, a systemic method is used, but other approaches are also applied.

Supervision for teams
Supervision for teams
This format is intended for companies, associations, institutions, unions, teachers, and other smaller teams. It is for those who feel the need to look more broadly or deeply into topics that, for some reason, hinder progress. Or when difficult situations keep recurring. These obstacles impede successful collaboration, achievements, and development.
The goal of the meeting
The goal is to identify roles, correct positions, and where balance has shifted out of place, and to make the necessary movements to restore it. Investigating the influence of various external factors is also included. The team can, if desired, take away ideas and recommendations to try out. However, the facilitator cannot guarantee their effectiveness, as not all hidden details and factors are known. Ultimately, it is necessary to independently find a solution that works specifically for your team. It is good to first see the obstacles, then generate new ideas to initiate changes and refine approaches over time.
Methodology
Participants discuss their perspectives and encounters regarding the topic in question. Then, expected solutions are clarified. During the meeting, the situation and dynamics are mapped out, and hypotheses are set to be tested. As the work progresses, critical points are identified, and necessary processes are carried out as much as possible. Further solutions are discussed together. If necessary, a micro-training is introduced to explain different mechanisms and dynamics. With the support of the facilitator, important conclusions and future plans are made based on the revealed information.
How to register your attendance
Get in touch and briefly describe the need that has arisen, a short overview of the situation, and the initial goal for the supervision.
Supervision for Students
Supervisioon eriala õpilastele
I lead various learning modules in several private schools that offer professional training for adults. At the initiative of the students, supervisions were developed where trainings on specific topics not covered by the curriculum or for which additional knowledge was desired were requested. They also wanted to address personal issues that had accumulated during the learning process and began to limit them.
For whom it is intended
This format is suitable for students of psychotherapy, transpersonal psychology, and constellation training who seek additional support to complement their ongoing studies. The groups are intentionally small so that, as an instructor, I can give individual attention to all participants. Additionally, it provides a safe and supportive space for those who, due to the size of their course group, do not receive the necessary attention or have difficulty opening up.
The goal
I will offer input based on my personal experience, knowledge and what I have studied. To support the different processes that have come up during the intensive learning process. I do not offer competition because my desire is not to take someone’s place or claim to be better. I’m just offering extra possibilities, which I myself missed during my studies. Teachers in private schools have expressed their appreciation and support for what I do, because they have brought benefits to all parties.
How to organise
If supervision is desired for a specific training group, please write what exactly is desired and the reasons for it. Then, the terms of the meeting, the material provided by the facilitator, and the size of the group will be agreed upon. Meetings are held according to the students’ wishes and needs. This is not a public event. Participation in supervision is confirmed with a signature if the training school requires it.
