19.06 Support group for therapists / Supervision
The last of the season! In July I will rest.
NOTE: Students of the Teadlik Mina school can register their participation as a compulsory supervision. Alumni of the school will receive a letter of attendance simply as supervision. To do this, please include your first and last name + the group you graduated from or are currently studying in when registering.
The Therapist Support Group is for all, still in a training and practicing therapists, who need a safe, closed environment to privately explore the underlying causes of personal or recurring, debilitating issues with clients. It doesn’t matter what field of therapist you are or what practices you primarily use. Or, if your profession involves supporting others physically, mentally or emotionally, You need support from time to time as well. It’s practical therapist self-care and getting support from colleagues that promotes better quality service and reduces the risk of burnout.
Each participant will deal with the issue that matters to them. For example, there is a feeling of being stuck in therapy and not being able to move forward with the client. No ideas or courage to use different techniques. Or why certain therapy topics keep recurring and moving like a roundabout wheel, without finding a solution. It could also be a matter of sessions being constantly cancelled or clients not turning up and not reporting. In the Support Group, we can discuss and look together at what could be the cause of all this. What these situations reflect or indicate. Whether it is a personal blind spot or missing important information. For example, what to do next when it seems like all the issues have been gone through and still nothing stands out. How to work with couples, or what are the different types of clients and what information does it provide. What are those personal issues that come up and take the energy to put 100% into your work and are waiting to be resolved before you can be there for clients again. In short – anything goes, as long as there is something that is distracting or disturbing you and is preventing you from moving forward or developing your therapy work wholeheartedly. Being a therapist is a lifestyle that requires constant personal attention and inner work. It is said that a therapist can only go as far with a client as he or she has developed or is willing to go. This does not mean that the therapist has to have experienced all the same events as his clients. However, the therapist should be able to identify, acknowledge and move towards resolution with each personal story that emerges. And do so at least one or two steps ahead of the client. This is conducive to better understanding and guiding the client on his or her journey, and not losing oneself.
