MENTAL AND PERSONALITY DISORDERS IN FAMILY SYSTEMS. SYSTEMATIC APPROACH. ONLINE COURSE FOR CONSTELLATORS AND PARTICIPANTS IN TRAINING. DIRECTED BY BARRY KROST (USA).

In family constellations, we approach mental health disorders, i.e. mental and personality disorders, systemically. When we look at the hidden systemic dynamics of the disorders, we discover children blindly redeeming, sacrificing, and compensating for traumatic events, conflicts, and broken relationships from the past in order to belong and survive.

Mental and personality disorders can reflect secrets that manifest as symptoms and personal suffering. In family constellations, we can look for the source of past events, acknowledge what has not been seen, ignored or excluded, and honor what was. This, in turn, brings balance and calm to the system and wholeness, which is reflected in the present.

4 MENTAL AND PERSONALITY DISORDERS THAT WE FOCUS ON IN THE COURSE:

Schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, narcissism and borderline personality disorder. In order to learn, understand and recognize through constellations the effect of hidden dynamics in the system on the mental health of the offspring(s).

WHAT WE LEARN IN THE COURSE:

• What is a mental and personality disorder.
• Characteristics of 4 disorders, frequent hidden dynamics behind each disorder.
• 4 disorders with different aggressor-victim dynamics.
• Recognize paradoxical intanglement vs intanglement of loyalty.
• The different destinies of the ancestors in the family system, which may lead to one disorder or another.
• What is psychosis and what is the difference between psychosis and dissociation.
• How to work with these disorders when they occur in the family system and appear in constellation work.

THE AIM OF THE COURSE IS NOT TO LEARN HOW TO WORK WITH CLIENTS WHO HAVE A MENTAL OR PERSONALITY DISORDER, BUT HOW TO APPROACH SYSTEMATICALLY WHEN SOME MEMBERS OF THE SYSTEM HAD A DISORDER AND IT´S EFFECT ON THE SUCCESSOR. FOR EXAMPLE FOR THE CLIENT. PARTIALLY IN PREPARATION IN CASES WHEN A CLIENT, WITH ABOVE MENTIONED DISORDER, HAPPENS TO COME TO US, TO KNOW HOW TO RECOGNIZE, NOT TO FEEL FRIGHTEN AND HOW TO PROCEED.

NB! BARRY KROST, WHO GUIDES US, ALSO WORKS WITH CLIENTS WHO HAVE MENTAL OR PERSONALITY DISORDERS. GIVING HIM A CREDIBLE BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE TO INSTRUCT THE COURSE. HE IS CURRENTLY ONE OF THE FEW IN THE WORLD WHO SPECIALIZES IN THIS DIRECTION, THROUGH THE CONSTELLATION METHOD.

COURSE STRUCTURE:

Medical information is used in the training, but we don’t limit with that. We learn and understand different aggressor-victim dynamics, the characteristics of all four personality disorders, possible systemic causes, we do exercises, we can study Barry’s personal experiences. We will watch schemas and short films. Barry will do some sample constellation work, but the focus is not on doing the work, but to get the background, knowledge and right tools to work with these topics, in case they “unexpectedly” appear in the constellation.

Life Coach, mentor guiding various workshops, trainings on various topics. He has studied under several leading constellation facilitators: Bertold Ulsamer, Suzi Tucker, Stephan Hausner and others.

I met Barry for the first time in 2022 at the International Conference on Family, Systemic and Organizational Constellations, where I participated in a practical workshop on schizophrenia led by him.

I liked his directness, honest and genuine presentation of the topic. Leaving each participant to discover something more. And the fact that he does not pretend to know the complete truth, but shares his 40 years of experience. When instructing, he always adds general knowledge and refers to the teachings of Bert Hellinger. I was impressed that Barry also includes medical terms, definitions and information. Which multifacetedly complements the knowledge and skills of family constellation facilitators.

• There are 4x4h meetings on Sundays, on the dates: July 14, July 21 and August 18, August 25, 2024
• Meeting time: always 15:00-19:00 (Estonian time)
• Meeting place: online, on the Zoom platform
• Translation: the seminar has a follow-up translation from English to Estonian and from Estonian to English. In other words, knowledge of the Estonian language is not necessary.
• Online course fee: €280
• Payment options: 1 part, at once, of which €80 is non-refundable, participation confirmation fee, in case you have to cancel. The course has the possibility of follow-up, so the dates not being suitable should not prevent participation.

• The price includes: in addition to the course guidance by Barry Krost – handouts in Estonian (in Engish for english speaking participants), scheme cards (EST and ENG) and the possibility to watch the recordings of the meetings (7 days after each meeting).
• Special condition for participating: if you have been diagnosed or suspect that you have a mental and/or personality disorder, please inform us. This information remains known to the organizer and instructor, in case you do not disclose it yourself during the course.
• Additional condition for participating: In order for us to maintain a safe space, please ensure that if you have been diagnosed with a mental and/or personality disorder, that you are stable, prepared and have worked on yourself enough to address these issues. You know this by how you function in life in general and what the doctor has told you. Symptoms and illness can be triggered by many things in our lives, the constellation method is not an exception in this sense, nor is it special to attribute any kind of specific responsibility to this method. The participant is responsible for the decision to participate, the instructor is responsible for conveying the topic and keeping a safe enough space as far as possible. Barry says that his workshops have been attended by people with disorders, so he is not afraid of these meetings and courses, and the workshops have been successfully completed by all participants.
